Paintings. Living in Shetland for nine years inspired my use of mixed media including acrylic, oil and watercolour paint, chalk and oil pastels, pigment, glitter, mica and wax on canvas and paper.

This helped me to create works that have their starting points in nature sometimes the big skies, dramatic horizons, peat habitat, the profusion of seapinks along the coast in summer, granite rockiness, and sparkling mica beaches. I mainly use very thick sheets of Arches watercolour paper with deckle edges as it withstands the application of mixed media materials on a larger scale. The deckle edge is then retained when the paintings are framed.
