Collagraphs. A collagraph plate is created using a piece of card, my technique is to draw using a knife, paint with gesso for texture, sometimes adding fine carborundum, tissue paper, and tapes to create texture in the image which is finally sealed ready for inking up and printing. I learnt this technique at Porthmeor Printmakers in St Ives and developed it further whilst living in Shetland.

My collagraph plates are very like collages when completed and ready to print so I keep them all for future printing, even though made on card they last a surprisingly long time. Making actual collages is an idea to further develop for new work inspired by making these collagraph plates.
